Tomatoes are very interesting ingredient and it is very frequently used while cooking daily meal across the world. It adds a tangy or bit sour taste to the food and enhances its flavor.
Tomato is a fruit as well as a vegetable. It is used in every dish right from our regular Dal or Salad to Pasta or Pizza and Ketchup.

I am very fond of this Tomato Chatni and I usually cook it ones a week for sure. It is very easy to store it in the refrigerator for approx 2 days and reuse in the mean time.
Ones I called my friends for lunch at my place. On their demand I prepared Masala Dosa. Along with Nariyal Chatni, I prepared this tomato Chatni to be served with the Dosa.
One of my Friends, who is a food blogger complimented me “I have eaten hell stuff in Pune and wrote about them, but I have never tried such delicious Tomato Chatni ever” and you get such a compliment from FRIEND (you know… how often they appreciate us…. 👿 and that too a food blogger who eat like anything and everything around the city(that also for free). It really means a lot… isn’t it!!!

All Ingredients We Need to Make Spicy Tomato Chatni
- Tomatoes- 5 Pcs (Medium Size, Chopped);
- Garlic- 2 Teaspoon;
- Green Chilli- 4-5 chillies (Chopped)
- Jeera (Cumin seeds) & Rai (Mustard Seeds)- 1/4 teaspoon;
- Heeng (Asafoetida) Powder- A pinch;
- Haldi (Turmeric) Powder- 1/4 teaspoon;
- Red Chilli Powder- 1 1/2 teaspoon;
- Dhaniya (Coriander) Powder- 1 teaspoon;
- Salt- 1 teaspoon or as per taste.
Preparation time- 5-7 minutes
Cooking time- 15-20 minutes
Complete Step by Step Recipe to Make Spicy Tomato Chatni
- Heat some oil in a pan;
- Then add Rai Seeds and Heeng Powder to it.
- Also, add Haldi Powder and Tomatoes;
- Fry them for 1 minute;
- Now, add Garlic and Green Chilli and remaining spices i.e Red Chilli Powder, Dhaniya Powder, and Salt
- We’ll fry it for 2 minutes;
- Add half a glass of water too, cover the pan and cook it for 10-12 minutes;
- Mash the cooked Spicy Tomato chatni to make it an even paste.
Our Spicy Tomato Chatni is absolutely ready to be served. Serve it Hot !! with stuffed parathas of any kind for eg, Palak Paratha, Aloo Methi Paratha or with a regular Chapati.
