How to Make Sabudana Khichdi (साबूदाना खिचड़ी)

Sabudana Khichdi is an all time love of people observing fast. It is an Indian Recipe that is not only Tasty but also Quick and easy to cook.

Sabudana Khichdi apart from being tasty helps foodies like us to survive during the fast as it keeps the tummy full for long.During Fast, there are not many options available apart from potatoes or fruits.And in such a situation, Sabudana Khichdi is a Life saver.

When I was in my college, my mom use to force me to do Monday’s fast during Shravan month. But trust me…. Observing fast is so not me!!! But then I thought… Its just 4 days in One month and the ultimate result will be a Smart, Caring, Loving and Dream Boy types husband. oh! that’s not a bad idea!!! After all… mom and sabudana Khichdi are there to save me from dying.

Trust me….I literally call my mom when I get free from college…

And I use to have this amazing Indian Recipe served for me by the time I use to reach home. I really love you, mommy… majorly for that Sabudana Khichdi and a bit for making me do the Shravan fast. The RESULT is not that awesome as expected…. but it’s not that bad as well !!!  😛  😛  😛

All Ingredients We Need to Make Sabudana Khichdi

Ingredients of Sabudana Khichdi - Fast Special Recipe - Dil Bhukkad

  1. Sabudana- 1 Bowl;
  2. Tomato- 1 Medium Size (Finely Chopped);
  3. Green Chilly- 1 or 2 (Finely Chopped);
  4. Potato- 1 Medium Size (Finely Chopped);
  5. Red chilli Powder- 1 Tea Spoon;
  6. Rock Salt- as per taste;
  7. Jeera Seeds- 0.5 (1/2) Tea Spoon.

Before Making the Sabudana Khichdi, Sabudana needs to be soaked in water for about 1.5 to 2 hours. Then we need to drain-off the water and let them dry for 10 minutes, now we are perfectly ready to use them in our Sabudana khichdi.

Also, This quantity is enough for preparing 1 bowl of Sabudana Khichdi, enough for serving 2 people you can increase the ingredients as per your requirements.

Also, you can use ingredients such as Crushed Groundnuts/ Peanuts as per your taste. After all it’s your mood and absolutely your food. Have it the way you like it.

Preparation time- 5 minutes

Cooking time-  7-8 minutes

 

Complete Step by Step Process to Make Sabudana Khichdi

  1. Heat some oil in a pan (about 3-4 table spoon);
  2. Fry the Jeera seeds;
  3. Fry the Potatoes for 1 minute;
  4. Add Tomato and green chilli to it;
  5. Add Rock Salt and Red chilli Powder and fry them for half a minute;
  6. Now add sabudana to the prepared veggies;
  7. Also, Add 2-3 Table spoon water to it;
  8. Cover it and cook it for 5 minutes.
